Temperature and vibration describe different aspects of machine behaviour. Considered together, they can improve confidence and reduce unnecessary intervention. PyXis exposes sensor temperature, motor temperature values and configurable thermal thresholds alongside triaxial vibration information.
Interpret combined trends
- Rising vibration with rising temperature may support investigation of lubrication, bearing load or alignment.
- Temperature rise without vibration change may point to process, cooling or electrical loading.
- Vibration rise without temperature change may indicate imbalance, looseness or structural excitation.
- A sudden change in both channels warrants prompt validation of operating state and sensor installation.
Account for operating condition
Compare data at similar speed, load and ambient condition. Thermal lag means temperature can continue rising after vibration or load changes. Use trend windows appropriate to the machine thermal mass rather than expecting immediate correlation.
Alarm strategy
Set independent warning and alarm levels for vibration and temperature, then use supervisory logic to assign higher priority when multiple indicators agree. Avoid hiding a serious single-channel alarm merely because the other variable remains normal.
Maintenance evidence
Use combined trends to plan lubrication checks, bearing inspection, alignment verification, cooling-system review or process investigation. Record the confirmed finding so future analytics can distinguish true faults from normal thermal behaviour.
